Leadership Communication Skills
for
This program will help you prepare and deliver effective investor meetings.
You will strengthen your ability to:
Engage people with executive presence and a confident, credible style
Prepare brief, clear and memorable communications
Quickly adapt generic content to specific listeners, so you can grab their attention and hold it
You will build these skills in two highly interactive and practice-intensive half-day sessions.
Small working groups will ensure you have a very personalized experience
We don’t think there is one right way for everyone to communicate to all listeners. Instead, we will help you strengthen your skills while remaining true to your own personality
In one-to-one coaching sessions, you will watch recordings of your practice, so you get a clear picture of your strengths and areas for work, as well as concrete suggestions for how to improve
The rest of this page explains how to prepare for the program and provides an overview of the sessions.
Choose material
Pick a meeting with a current or potential investor that will happen after the program to practice during the sessions. It can be a meeting with a single allocator or several people.
If you have an investment strategy that is difficult to explain — or you think the current explanation could be improved — bring that, as you will improve the way you tell the story, not just your delivery.
If you plan to use a deck or other supporting material, bring that.
Bring your laptop to prepare content during the program.

Overview of the sessions
Session One
Opening
Discuss the challenging communication situations you face and link the agenda to them.
Set goals
You set personal goals within our intellectual, emotional, and physical communication skills framework.
Increase presence
You practice telling a brief story — expanding your use of eye contact, voice and body language — to increase your presence, confidence and impact. We record your story. Together, we begin the process of giving and receiving feedback.
One-to-one coaching
You review the recording of your story privately with your coach.
Create compelling messages
You use our preparation tools to work on the meeting you plan to practice. You analyze your listeners and then create an outline to ensure you have compelling messages, a clear storyline, and convincing data and examples to back up your assertions. These tools will provide an efficient process to personalize your standard material to make it more engaging for specific investors.
Session Two
Deliver engaging investor meetings
You role-play the investor meeting you prepared in Session One, receive feedback from your coach and colleagues, and then try different approaches to see how small adjustments can lead to substantially better results. We record your meeting.
One-to-one coaching
You review the recording of your meeting privately with your coach.
Action planning
You identify a few meetings over the next couple of weeks and plan the skills you will apply in each one to increase your chances of success.
